Lisa’s Corner – Simple Mint Tea

Simple Mint Tea

Fresh mint is wonderfully fragrant and is delicious in many dishes. Perhaps the simplest way to incorporate mint into your diet is to enjoy a hot cup of fresh mint tea. Mint tea is one of the most popular herbal teas throughout the world. The peppermint plant is a good source of vitamins A and C and also has antimicrobial, antiviral, and antioxidant activities (McKay, 2006). Locally grown, organic mint can be purchased at farmer’s markets throughout NYC.

¼-½ cup chopped mint
Hot water

1. Boil water.
2. Wash mint and chop into medium sized pieces. (Small enough so that flavor can diffuse to hot water but large enough such that leave do not fall through strainer.)
3. Pour hot water over mint leaves. Steep 5-7 minutes.
